1/27/25 - Big Magic Reflection

 The notion of ideas and creativity being of a divine, supernatural source is certainly not new, and the author admits this, but it is a total gateway to understanding the appreciation and importance of creativity to one's well being. Ideas do in fact almost spring themselves upon you and it is your choice on whether or not to engage. There is in fact a magical essence to creativity as a whole that the author describes as not being physically natural in our world, and the observation holds true.

Oftentimes when faced with an idea, or even a slew of them, I feel as though I am on a different plane of existence. Sudden bursts of energy and optimism overtake the senses and I have strong desire to get back to work. Of course, I agree that times of distress or anger, ideas aren't nourished to the same level as respect as they would otherwise; however, it is sometimes found within those low moments or even in the reflection of them, that an idea can spring... Whether it be a theme, a story, a specific character, even a written work or song.

 This presentation offered an interesting insight into how the differences in environment and physical space can impact humans differently and influence their artistic style and expression. Some spaces can draw people towards them in an attempt to reach their space of serenity physically, while others make their natural environments their place of serenity, by molding it themselves to implement their work. While one artist leaves the bustling streets of New York City to seek their creative nourishment in the rural deserts of New Mexico, another artist may stay in NYC to make a social statement with their work that requires its bustling environment.

4/17/25 - Creative Life Chapter - The Artist's Dilemma

 4/17/25 Most people who experience the creative "spark" so to speak, will often hear the praise from their peers and family, but will always have the self doubt that their work is not  enough, or, as good as it could or should be.  Anyone who has had experience of either performing on stage or presenting their canvas in a gallery will undoubtedly see every flaw that is riddled within their piece, yet will smile and nod when they are complimented on their work, as if all of their feelings of self-doubt were meaningless upon receiving any sort of rebuttal to the harshness of their inner-voice... 8-20-25 "Walking" Humanities Reflection 1

  Elliott Ecenbarger I can say with the utmost confidence that after gaining an introductory understanding of what this course offered with the seemingly unnoticed, everyday act of walking, that the activity itself is a manifestation of  life  in all aspects. It is a celebration of feeling, observing, communicating and thinking either in an independent state, or a social one. One of my favorite songs, titled "To Life", originates from the 1964 Broadway musical, "Fiddler On The Roof" where a group of characters in the play set their differences aside by singing and dancing together all in unison to celebrate the simple act of living, through good times and bad times.
